Kahoot alternatives for conferences and events

Updated: ·

Short answer

Kahoot!'s free plan allows 10 players, so for an event room look elsewhere: Slido and Vevox allow 100 participants free, AhaSlides 50, Mentimeter 50 a month, Poll Everywhere 40. For a one-off conference, one-time plans from Vevox (195 USD for 7 days) or Slido (from 60 EUR) avoid a yearly subscription. AnyEventTool includes a Kahoot-style quiz in its free event platform, with AI questions from your materials. Limits checked 1 October 2026.

For a single event, one-time plans or a free tool save money; if you run talks every month, an annual plan becomes cheaper per event. Kahoot!+ plans are personal plans; check the vendor's terms for business use. Sources as in the table above (checked 2026-10-01).

1. Slido — best for Q&A in talks

2. Vevox — best free plan for a mid-size hall

Vevox's free plan allows 100 participants with unlimited basic polling, quizzing and Q&A. 3. Mentimeter — best for interactive presentations

Mentimeter mixes slides with quizzes, word clouds, polls and Q&A. Free gives 50 participants a month plus one session a month with unlimited participants; Basic at 11.99 USD per presenter a month, billed yearly, removes the participant limit. Source: mentimeter.com/plans (checked 2026-10-01).

4. AhaSlides — best budget option

AhaSlides puts quizzes, polls, word clouds and Q&A into a deck. Free: 50 participants, up to 5 quiz and 3 poll questions per presentation, unlimited events. Essential costs 7.95 USD a month billed yearly for 100 participants; Pro 11.15 USD for 2,500. Source: ahaslides.com/pricing (checked 2026-10-01).

5. Poll Everywhere — best for large webinars on a budget

Free allows an audience of 40. Present costs 10 USD a month (or 120 USD a year) for an audience of up to 700, which makes it one of the cheapest options for big online sessions. Source: polleverywhere.com/plans (checked 2026-10-01).

6. Wayground (formerly Quizizz) — best for classes

Wayground supports live and self-paced quizzes, homework and reports. The free education plan allows up to 100 students per class. For business use there is a 14-day trial; business prices were not published on the pricing page when we checked. Source: wayground.com/home/plans (checked 2026-10-01).

7. Crowdpurr — best for trivia nights

Crowdpurr is built for live trivia and audience games. Free allows 20 participants and 15 questions per experience; Classroom costs 24.99 USD a month billed yearly for 100 participants, with larger tiers up to 15,000. Source: crowdpurr.com/pricing (checked 2026-10-01).

8. AnyEventTool (AET) — best when the quiz is part of your event

In AET the quiz is a section of your event page. AI writes up to 40 questions per request from your materials — a file (PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX and more), a web page, pasted text or a YouTube video with subtitles — in the language of the source. Players scan a QR code and pick a nickname, with no accounts; a separate speaker link lets a guest speaker host without an AET account. Two modes: everyone at their own pace, or host-led question by question, with a projector screen, leaderboard and podium.

Cost: the quiz is in the Free plan; an AI quiz uses 1 of 10 monthly AI generations (Pro: 100), and quizzes you write yourself are unlimited. Limits: multiple choice only; no polls, word clouds, open answers or Q&A. Step by step: how to run a live quiz at an event; wider ranking: best live quiz tools for events.

What makes an event quiz work, whatever the tool?

  • Check the free limit against your room, not your guest list: a 10-player cap fails a 60-person meetup.
  • 8–15 questions, 15–30 seconds each. Long games lose the room.
  • Show the join QR early and large, and test Wi-Fi or mobile data in the venue.
  • Start easy so everyone scores in the first two questions.
  • Review AI-generated questions before the event; a human should check wording and answers.
  • Plan the podium: a small prize or applause for the top three is the moment people remember.
