How do I create an event registration page for free?
Updated: · AnyEventTool
Short answer
Pick a tool that gives you a public event page, a form and confirmation tickets on a free plan. In AnyEventTool (AET) you create an event, add the "Registration and paid participation" section, choose the form fields, switch on QR tickets and share the short link. The Free plan costs $0, covers 3 new events a month and includes QR tickets and check-in. If you only need a list of names, a Google Form is enough.
Key facts
- AET Free: $0, no card, 3 new main events per calendar month (UTC); sub-events do not count
- Registration form: 8 standard fields plus custom fields of 9 types (text, long text, number, email, phone, date, choice, yes/no, photo)
- Every registrant can get a personal QR ticket on the page and by email, with a PDF
- Guests sign in with Google or an email link; with "Anonymous participants" on they register with no account at all
- Participant list exports to Excel; check-in runs from any phone camera at aet.events/qr
- Interface in 19 languages; your own text is shown as you wrote it
- No Save button: changes autosave about a second after you type
Step by step
- 1Sign in
Open https://aet.events/en/events and sign in with Google or an email link.
- 2Create the event
Click + Create an event, choose a type and enter the name; optionally apply a brand style.
- 3Add the basics
In Edit mode add Description, Place and Date and time from Add a section → All sections.
- 4Build the form
Add Registration and paid participation, pick standard fields, add custom fields and mark required ones.
- 5Turn on QR tickets
Switch on QR tickets so each registrant gets a personal ticket by email.
- 6Choose who can register
Keep sign-in, or enable Anonymous participants (without authorization) for no-account registration.
- 7Preview and publish
Check desktop and mobile preview, make the event visible and share the short link or QR code.
What does a good registration page need?
A registration page has two jobs: convince people to come, and collect exactly the data you need to run the event. In practice that means:
- The essentials above the fold: what it is, date and time, place (or online link), price if any.
- A short form. Every extra field costs sign-ups. Ask only what you will actually use: name and email are usually enough for a free meetup.
- A confirmation the guest can keep: an email and, for offline events, a ticket with a QR code you can scan at the door.
- A list you can work with: export, contact people, mark who came.
- A link that previews well in messengers and social networks, plus a QR code for posters.
Free tools differ mostly in the last three points. Form builders collect answers but do not issue tickets; event platforms do.
Which free options exist, and when is each enough?
| Option | Good enough when | Missing on the free tier |
|---|---|---|
| Google Forms + a doc | You need a simple RSVP list for a small, free gathering | Event page design, tickets, QR check-in, payments |
| Luma | Free community events, polished pages, calendars, reminders | 5% platform fee on paid tickets on the free plan (luma.com/pricing, checked 2026-10-01) |
| Eventbrite | You want discovery through a large marketplace | Free events are free; paid tickets carry a service fee that varies by country |
| Meetup | You want strangers to find a recurring group | Free Starter plan only for first-time organizers (1 group, 2 events a month, 10 people per event); paid plans from 29.99 USD a month |
| AnyEventTool (AET) | You want page, form, QR tickets, check-in, quiz and paid tickets in one place with 0% platform fee | 3 new events a month on Free; no discovery marketplace, no native app |
There is no single best choice. If your audience already exists (a chat, a mailing list, a company), you need a good page and a tidy list more than a marketplace. If nobody knows you yet, a marketplace such as Eventbrite or Meetup can bring strangers in.
How do I set up registration in AET, step by step?
- Go to https://aet.events/en/events and sign in with Google or an email link (no password).
- Click + Create an event, choose a type (or write your own) and enter a name. Optionally pick a brand style so the page gets your colors and logo straight away.
- On the event page, in Edit mode, add the basics from the section library (Add a section → All sections): Description, Place, Date and time. Changes save automatically about a second after you type.
- Add Registration and paid participation and create the form. Choose standard fields (first name, last name, organization, position, phone with a WhatsApp flag, email, selfie, other info) and add custom fields if needed. Mark required fields and drag them into order.
- Turn on QR tickets so every registrant receives a personal ticket.
- Decide who can register: signed-in guests only (default), or also people without an account via Anonymous participants (without authorization).
- Check the page in Preview, switching between desktop and mobile.
- Make the event visible and share the short link (aet.events/ plus a code of 5+ characters) or the QR code from the top-right corner of the event card.
Optional extras in the same form: a short survey at registration, Participant selection (applications that you approve), Show Materials and Cases only to registered users, and Paid participation with tiers.
Do guests need to create an account?
By default a guest signs in once with Google or a one-time email link, which takes a few seconds and lets them come back to edit their data, open their ticket or cancel. If you want zero friction, turn on Anonymous participants (without authorization): people fill in the form without any account, and you see their answers separately as anonymous entries. You can still send them a QR ticket through WhatsApp from the organizer panel.
For seat tickets (a different section, see the seating guide) guests never need an account: they enter a name and email at checkout.
What happens after someone registers?
- The guest sees their status on the page, can edit their data, open the ticket or delete the registration together with all their data.
- If QR tickets are on, the ticket arrives by email with a PDF.
- If you enabled the contact-sharing option, a guest can tick "share my data with other participants"; they see only others who also agreed.
- You see clickable counters above the form: registered, sharing contacts, scanned tickets, anonymous forms, applications, payments, survey answers.
- From the list you can export to Excel, message someone in WhatsApp, add a private note or remove an entry.
What are the limits of the free plan?
AET Free is $0 with no time limit. Real limits on Free: 3 new main events per calendar month (counted at creation, so create-delete-create counts as 2; sub-events are not counted), 10 AI generations a month, 1 co-admin per event, 1 community, and 5 shop items on sale. Registration, QR tickets, check-in, paid tickets with 0% platform fee, seating charts, the live quiz, calendars, surveys and feedback are all on Free.
Pro costs $19 a month (cancel anytime) and raises the limits to 30 events, 100 AI generations and 10 co-admins, and adds a custom event address (name.aet.events) and an aet.market storefront. See https://anyeventtool.com/en/pricing.
If you downgrade, existing events stay online and registrations keep working; only creating new events is limited.
What does AET not do here?
Be clear about the gaps before you choose it:
- No discovery marketplace: AET will not bring you an audience; you share the link yourself.
- No native mobile app; the web pages are built for phones.
- No SMS or automated WhatsApp reminders and no public API or Zapier integration at the moment.
- Text you write is not auto-translated; the interface around it is available in 19 languages.
If any of these is essential, a larger platform may suit you better for that event.
How do I get more people to actually register?
- Put date, time and place in the first screen. People abandon pages where they have to hunt for basics.
- Keep the form to 2–4 fields for free events. Use custom fields only when the answer changes what you do.
- Add a poster: link previews in Telegram, WhatsApp and Instagram stories are mostly the image.
- Print the event QR code on posters and slides.
- Send the link where your audience already is; a page without distribution gets no sign-ups.
- After the event, invite people to subscribe to your calendar so the next announcement reaches them automatically.
Questions and answers
Is AET really free for registration?
Yes. Registration, QR tickets and check-in are on the Free plan at $0 with no card. The Free limit is 3 new main events per month and 10 AI generations per month.
How many people can register for one event on Free?
AET does not set a separate attendee cap per plan in its pricing; the plan limits are events per month, AI generations, co-admins, communities and shop items.
Can I close registration when I am full?
Yes. The form has a Registration open/closed toggle. For paid tiers you can also set a seat limit per tier, and guests see how many places are left.
Can I add my own questions to the form?
Yes. Add custom fields of 9 types: text, long text, number, email, phone, date, choice, yes/no and photo, and mark each as required or optional.
Can I export the list of registrants?
Yes. The participant list exports to Excel from the counters above the registration form.
Is Google Forms enough for a small event?
Often yes. For a free gathering where you just need names, a form works well. Switch to an event platform when you need tickets, check-in, payments or a page you want to share publicly.
Can registration be in my language?
The AET interface is available in 19 languages, including Ukrainian, English, Spanish, German, French and Polish. The text you write for the event is shown exactly as you wrote it.
