## What exactly do the free caps limit?

"100 free" means different things on different tools:

- **Per session:** Vevox and Wayground count players in one session; start a new session and the count starts again.
- **Per slido, over the whole meeting:** Slido counts every device that joins a slido during your meeting, not just the peak.
- **Per month:** Mentimeter's 50 is a monthly total across all presentations, plus one session a month with unlimited participants.
- **Questions, not players:** AhaSlides Free allows 5 quiz questions per presentation and Crowdpurr 15 questions per experience, which is short for a full quiz night.
- **Time:** Kahoot! 360 Express sessions are limited to 15 minutes.
- **Mode exceptions:** Blooket's 300-player Plus cap does not apply to Racing and team modes.

What happens at the cap also differs: AhaSlides refuses joiners past the limit, while Mentimeter never blocks people joining an ongoing presentation. Sources as in the table above (checked 15 October 2026).

## Which free tool fits your group size?

| Players | Free options that fit | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| **11–20** | Crowdpurr, and everything below | Crowdpurr: 15 questions per experience |
| **21–50** | AhaSlides, Mentimeter, Blooket, Poll Everywhere (up to 40) | AhaSlides: 5 quiz questions; Mentimeter: 50 a month in total |
| **51–100** | Vevox, Wayground, Slido, Blooket (up to 60) | Slido: 3 polls; Wayground Basic is a plan for teachers |
| **More than 100** | AnyEventTool quiz (no published cap), Mentimeter once a month, Poll Everywhere (700 for 30 days) | Otherwise a paid plan; see the table above |

For a quiz that feels like Kahoot! (points, speed, podium) with up to 100 people, Vevox and Wayground are the closest free fits; for a conference-sized room, see [Slido free plan limits and alternatives for 300 people](/en/learn/slido-free-plan-limits-and-alternatives).

## Is it cheaper to just pay for Kahoot!?

Sometimes. On [kahoot.com](https://kahoot.com/personal-campaign/) (checked 15 October 2026), Kahoot!+ personal plans billed annually were: Bronze 3 USD/month (50 players), Silver 7 USD/month (100), Gold 12 USD/month (200) and One 19 USD/month (800). The page labels these as a promotion ending 18 October 2026, so check the price on the day you buy.

For company events Kahoot! sells Kahoot! 360. Its one-time event plans run for 30 days: Event Standard 199 EUR (200), Event Plus 299 EUR (1,000), Event Max 499 EUR (2,000), Event Ultra 799 EUR (5,000). The same page notes that Kahoot!'s terms do not allow marketing, sales or advertising use, with webinars, conferences and recruitment given as examples, unless expressly authorized, and lists commercial rights for external events only on Event Ultra. ## Where does AnyEventTool fit?

AnyEventTool (AET) is an event platform with a Kahoot-style quiz built into the event page. AI writes up to 40 multiple-choice questions per request from your materials: a file (PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, TXT, MD, CSV), a web page, pasted text or a YouTube video with subtitles. Players join by QR code or code from a phone and type a nickname, with no account. The host can run everyone at their own pace or lead question by question, with a projector screen, leaderboard and podium.

**Cost:** included in the Free plan (0 USD, 3 new events a month). An AI quiz uses 1 of 10 monthly AI generations (Pro: 100, for 29 USD a month or 290 USD a year); quizzes you write yourself are unlimited. AET does not publish a separate player cap; with a large room, test with several phones on the venue network beforehand.

**Where others are better:** Kahoot! and Blooket have large libraries of ready-made games and classroom reporting; Vevox, Slido and Mentimeter add polls, Q&A and word clouds. AET's quiz is multiple choice only. Setup guide: [how to run a live quiz at an event](/en/learn/how-to-run-a-live-quiz-at-an-event).

## How do I check a free plan before the event?

- **Count devices, not guests.** Couples share a phone, speakers test from laptops; caps such as Slido's count devices.
- **Leave headroom.** A cap of exactly your headcount (for example Blooket Plus at 300) leaves no room for late arrivals.
- **Check question caps,** not just players: 5 quiz questions on AhaSlides Free is a warm-up, not a quiz night.
- **Check monthly allowances:** Mentimeter's unlimited session is once a month, so a rehearsal with a big group can use it.
- **Run a test game** on the venue's Wi-Fi or mobile data with a few phones.
